GUARANTEE
Highty is a brand of Outwoodcare Limited. When you buy from Highty, your contract (and any guarantee) is with Outwoodcare Limited (trading as Highty).
We build Highty furniture to be used and enjoyed outdoors. This guarantee explains what’s covered, what isn’t, and how to make a claim.
1) OUR WOOD & WHAT “TANALISED” MEANS
Most Highty wooden furniture is made from pressure-treated (tanalised) timber. Pressure treatment helps protect the wood against rot and fungal decay, making it suitable for outdoor use.
Like all real timber, treated wood is a natural material. It will:
- change colour over time (especially in sunlight)
- develop natural grain variation, knots and small characteristics
- expand and contract with seasons, and may develop small splits/checks
These are normal and not usually defects.
2) WHAT THIS GUARANTEE COVERS
Subject to the terms below, our guarantee covers:
- structural failure caused by a manufacturing defect
- rot or fungal decay of the treated timber where the timber has been used normally outdoors and maintained reasonably
- workmanship issues (for example joinery failure) that arise from how the product was made
If a covered issue occurs, we will (at our discretion and where appropriate):
- repair the product, or
- replace the affected part, or
- provide a replacement product (or the nearest equivalent if the original is no longer available), or
- provide a partial or full refund where a repair/replacement is not reasonable
Your statutory rights under UK consumer law are not affected.
3) WHAT IS NOT COVERED (VERY IMPORTANT)
This guarantee does not cover:
A) Natural timber movement and appearance changes
- natural colour change / fading / greying
- grain variation, knots, and character marks
- small splits/checks from seasonal movement
- minor warping that does not affect structural integrity or safe use
B) Normal wear and tear
- surface marks, scratches, scuffs and cosmetic wear from normal use
C) Weather-related cosmetic effects
- water marks, staining from leaves, berries, bird droppings, or algae/mildew on the surface
(These can usually be cleaned and are part of outdoor life.)
D) Damage or issues caused by misuse or lack of reasonable care
For example:
- standing/jumping on furniture, overloading beyond reasonable domestic use
- dragging items across hard surfaces
- use in a commercial setting (unless agreed in writing)
- exposure to chemicals, pressure washing, or aggressive cleaning methods
- covering with non-breathable covers that trap moisture for long periods
- storing items in constantly wet/poorly ventilated conditions
E) Modifications or repairs not carried out by us
- alterations, drilling, cutting, sanding, or refinishing not authorised by us
F) Installation/environmental issues
- uneven or unstable ground causing rocking or racking
- placing furniture in constantly waterlogged areas
- damage from coastal/salt spray environments beyond normal domestic outdoor exposure (unless we’ve specified suitability)
4) CARING FOR YOUR FURNITURE (TO KEEP IT AT ITS BEST)
Outdoor timber lasts longer and stays nicer with simple care:
- Keep it clean: mild soapy water and a soft brush/cloth is usually enough.
- Avoid harsh chemicals and pressure washers.
- Allow airflow: if you use a cover, choose a breathable one and avoid trapping moisture.
- In winter: it’s fine outdoors, but cleaning and using a breathable cover can help reduce surface algae.
- On soft ground: consider a stable, level base (patio slabs, firm path, etc.) so the furniture sits evenly.
If you’d like, we can advise on the best care approach for your exact finish and placement.
5) HOW LONG DOES THE GUARANTEE LAST?
Guarantee period: [INSERT YOUR GUARANTEE PERIOD, e.g. 10 years] from the delivery date.
If you offer different guarantee periods for different ranges/materials, list them here clearly.
This guarantee applies to the original purchaser and original delivery address unless we agree otherwise in writing.
6) HOW TO MAKE A GUARANTEE CLAIM
Please contact us with:
- your order number (or name + postcode if you don’t have it)
- photos showing the issue clearly (and wider shots for context)
- when you first noticed the issue
- where the furniture is positioned (e.g. patio/lawn, sheltered/exposed)

7) WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
If the issue is covered, we’ll propose the most appropriate remedy (repair, parts, replacement or refund) and confirm next steps and timescales.
If the issue is not covered, we’ll explain why and (where helpful) suggest practical options.
8) YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS
This guarantee is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under UK consumer law (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015).
9) DEFINITIONS
“Domestic use” means normal private use at home, not business/commercial use.
